Server Console provides a console version of the Server Manager.
You can use the Server Console to perform the following tasks on a 3300 ICP controller:
Check server status
Configure the server
Reboot or shutdown the server
Manage trusted networks
Perform backup and restore
NOTES:
The Register for ServiceLink option is currently supported for x86 based MiVoice Business systems.
The following procedures also apply to x86-based controllers. However, the options presented during the configuration may slightly vary.
Do one of the following:
Method 1 (On premise) - Connect the RS-232 serial cable from a serial port on your PC to the RS-232 port on the controller.
Open a communication application (for example ProCom, Hyperterminal, PuTTY) on your PC and set the connection parameters as follows:
Port: Select any COM port. For example, COM1.
Bits Per Second: 9600 (Default value)
Data Bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Control: None
Emulation: VT100

NOTE: Before you begin, ensure that you have enabled SSH access through the Server Manager (Security > Remote Access).
Launch a terminal emulator application.
In the Host Name (or IP address)
field, type the IP address of the MiVoice Business system.

Select SSH under Connection
type, and then click
Open.
The login prompt is displayed.
At the login
prompt, type admin
(user admin) and
press the ENTER key.

NOTE: You can also log in as user root and type su admin to switch to user admin.
At the password prompt, type the administrator password, and press the ENTER key.
The server console main menu
is displayed.

NOTE: The following procedures, except Restore a Database, can be performed using either Method 1 or Method 2. The procedure Restore a Database can be performed using Method 1 or from Administration > Restore in Server Manager.
In the server console main menu, click 1.
Check status of this server, and then click Next.
The system displays the duration for which the server was running in
days, hours, and minutes.
Click OK to return to the man menu.
NOTE: All configuration changes except DNS server addresses requires a system reboot. A system reboot is recommended only during off-hours.
In the server console main menu, click 2. Configure this server, and then click Next.
In the configuration screens, select the following settings:

Do one of the following:
If you have modified only the DNS
server addresses configuration setting, click Finish
to apply the configuration changes.
The Server Manager application's service is interrupted briefly
and displays the following message. The service resumes after
five minutes.
Service Unavailable - The server
is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance
downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
If you have modified any other configuration
setting, click Reboot.
The configuration settings are applied upon system reboot.
NOTE: If you have not made configuration changes, the system displays the No unsaved changes screen, click Finish to go to the main menu.
In the server console main menu, click 4. Reboot or shut down this server, and then click Next.
In the configuration screens, select the following settings:

This procedure performs a backup of the MiVoice Business system configuration, server configuration, and the user data to a network file share server. Two file-sharing protocols are supported:
Samba (SMB)/Common Internet File System (CIFS)
Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP)
To back up the database:
In the server console main menu, click 6. Perform backup, and then click Next.
In the configuration screens, select the following settings:

Enter the file-share name. Applies only to SMB/CIFS. Leave the field blank for SFTP. The restore utility will try to connect to the server/shared folder as an SMB/CIFS resource. The shared folder must have permissions set to "Full Control." |

Enter the name of the sub-folder where you have stored the database backup file. For SMB/CIFS, the sub-directory is relative to the share. For SFTP, the sub-directory is relative to the root of the file system accessed through the SFTP protocol. |

The system creates a database backup file in the specified directory on
the file server.
You can restore a server backup file stored on a network file share. Two file-sharing protocols are supported:
Samba (SMB)/Common Internet File System (CIFS)
Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP)
WARNING Restoring a database deletes your current application configuration and user data.
NOTE: You can also restore the database using Server Manager. Log in to Server Manager, and click Restore under Administration. See Restore Server Data in the Server Manager guide for more information.
Restoring a Database from Server Console:
Access Server Console using Method 1.
In the Server Console main menu, click 7. Restore from a backup, and then click Next.
In the configuration screens, select the following settings:
